Detailed guide and information

How Your Due Date is Calculated

A typical pregnancy lasts about 280 days (40 weeks) from the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP). Most due date calculators use Naegele's Rule: add 7 days to the first day of your LMP, then subtract three months.

The Accuracy of Due Dates

It is important to remember that a due date is only an estimate. Only about 4-5% of babies are born exactly on their due date. Most babies arrive between 37 and 42 weeks of pregnancy. Your doctor might adjust your due date based on an early ultrasound scan, which is often a more accurate measure in the first trimester.

Pregnancy Milestones

Once you know your due date, you can track important milestones like the first heartbeat, the "quickening" (first movements), and the start of different trimesters. It helps you prepare for prenatal visits and organize your life for the new arrival.

Planning for the Big Day

Knowing your estimated due date allows you and your healthcare provider to monitor the baby's growth and plan any necessary tests. It also gives you a timeline for setting up the nursery and taking leave from work. Use our calculator to get an initial estimate and start your exciting journey.
